In regard to Real Property Tax Director Tom Bloodgood's comment that sale prices are high and a shift to the waterfront taxpayer has occured, I can only say he is stuck on stupid. Mr. Olin in Orange obviously does not have waterfront property at $160,000 and there is very little waterfront property in Orange. Average resale in the County per sale is around $70,000. The Town of Hector treated everyone like they had waterfront property when they were reassessed, even though the majority of the land is hillside or National/State forest. Taxes, especially Odessa Montour school taxes have gone up for a variety of valid as well as irresponsible reason, but definitely not because we are Hilton Head SC. Put a penny on the needle and get the record to move off the track it's stuck on. Don't make our homes more valuable than they are, unless of course we could possibly sell them for that price in this century.
