with the slumping economy and the rise of unemployed people in the twin tiers and around the world the department of social services in elmira has to be the worst ever. I am new to this area a resident of 2 months now i am 47 years of age with alot of medical problems. I have applied for public assistance here in elmira and have to say because i think it is important the way government or state employees treat people applying for public assistance some people apply and are entitle to these programs some not by choice but because they have fallen on hard times or for medical reason or whatever. well i've made numerous trips to this local dss office here in elmira which i was given the run around made promises by dss workers and supervisors that cared more about their walks in the parking lot than the people waiting to be seen by them inside,while they duck their supervisors and getting paid to take walks while on the clock,and people they service everyday are on the brink of eviction,being homeless,no food or medical such as myself they seem to be worried about whats going on outside than the real problem going on inside the dss office ,with people out of jobs,no healthcare,food or whatever. I will never understand a person who can live with themselves knowing the people are there because they need help and the employees hire by dss to help and serve these people are out walking the lot while people on the brink of being homeless,starving,and sick inside dss waiting hours or more to be seen its sad. because they have job stability, a roof over their heads food in the fridge doesnt account for those of us who are less fortunate. I just want them to see how it would feel when its them on the other side of the desk needing help while your cries goes unheard wake up people we all need help at some point and time in life, and you will benefit form helping others when u have the resources to do so, but choose to do otherwise because your walking the parking lot,doing your nails ,talking on the phone on companies time for your own personal use when u should be addressing the real issue how can u sleep with yourselves at night. "god don't like ugly" one day u will be judged for your works here on earth and have to answer for it whether it be good or bad. the bad you do to others will come back to you 100 times worse may not be today but it will believe me "god bless you"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
