The Corning Area Community Concert Band will present its annual Fall Scholarship Concert at the Corning Museum of Glass auditorium, Sunday November 15 at 3:00PM. Admission is free. Free-will donations will be gratefully accepted for the Scholarship Fund. A reception will follow the concert to celebrate the 35th year of the band.
Tuba soloist Deanna Swoboda, formerly of the Dallas Brass, will be featured. Clarinet soloist Katie Pitts of Houghton College will also be featured.
Guest conductor Gordon Gillette will share the podium with Conductor John Stranges. Mr. Gillette was music director at Horseheads High School.
The music program will include light classical, Broadway show tunes, popular melodies and concert marches.
Every year the band awards a $1000 scholarship to a deserving student musician at one of the area high schools. Free-will donations for the scholarship fund will be gratefully accepted.
