Recently discovered among Twain's papers, Is He Dead? was never produced in his lifetime. The farcical play tells the story of a brilliant but debt ridden artist whose students devise a scheme to solve their teacher's financial woes by faking his death -- to raise the prices of his art -- and passing him off as his own "widowed sister." Hilarity ensues! Secret Identities! Evil Art Dealers! Cross Dressing! Romance! Intrigue! Madcap Escapades! Saturday evening's performance includes a "Dessert Theatre" at 6:00 pm featuring Barbara Snedecor, Director of the Center for Mark Twain Studies at Elmira College speaking about Twain's life and times.
